2004 Dakota Bull Session

 


 

The Dakota Bull Session is an annual reunion of all military veterans.  It started Friday evening with a Navy Bean Feed and concluded with a memorial service Sunday noon.


Major General Kevin B. Kuklok, USMC, gave the Keynote Address at the 14th annual Dakota Bull Session banquet in Devils Lake. General Kuklok is a graduate of the University of North Dakota and is currently serving as the Assistant Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies and Operations, Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.


 

 
SOS, sometimes called 
Chipped Beef on Toast, 
was served Saturday noon.


The Grand Forks Air Force Base Honor Guard conducted a flag folding ceremony as part of the Memorial Service Sunday morning.

North Dakota Maritime Museum

  Dr. Mary Wakefield, Professor of Nursing and Director of the Center for Rural Health, University of North Dakota delivered the Theme Speech at the 2003 Dakota Bull Session.  She is a leader in health policy issues and spent a number of years working as Chief of Staff in Washington, DC for several North Dakota senators.  Mary is a native of Devils Lake and was appointed to the National Commission on Veteran's Affairs last year.

The Devils Lake Elks Community Band, lead by Conductor Glenn Rygg, held a concert for the session Friday evening.

The 188th Army National Guard country music band played for the Anchors Aweigh Ball following the banquet Saturday evening.

Air Force Major General Michael Haugen, North Dakota Adjutant General, gave a welcome and introduced General Kuklok, guest speaker at the banquet.
