USS North Dakota (BB-29) was launched 10 November 1908 by the Fore River Shipbuilding Company, Camden, New Jersey and was commissioned 11 April 1910. She primarily operated in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Mediterranean during her fifteen years of service. Operating areas/ports of call included: England, France, Vera Cruz Mexico, Athens, Constantinople, Valencia, Gibraltar, Scandinavia, Scotland and Spain. She served much of her time as a training ship for gunners and midshipmen. USS North Dakota was decommissioned at Norfolk, Virginia 22 November 1923, she was struck from the Naval Register on 7 January 1931.
