The United States Navy is celebrating it's 231st Birthday this October, our celebration will be on October 21st, 2006. The USN Birthday Ball is a long standing tradition but only the sixteenth annual for the Fargo area. Please consider attending this years celebration. A cash bar will be available at 6:00pm with the presentation of colors set for 7:00pm, meal and program to follow. As part of the tradition, the most junior and most senior member present join in cutting the birthday cake. A DJ service will provide music for the dance to follow. We again have some great door prizes to give away. Please contact us if you would like to donate a door prize.
This year's guest speaker is Fargo native RADM David Crocker (Ret). Admiral Crocker retired after a distinguished 29 year career in the Navy. He served as Commanding Officer of an aviation squadron and the CO of the USS INCHON (MCS-12) and the USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70). See Admiral Crocker's bio for additional information.
We will also be recognizing our shipmates who are back from Iraq and Afghanistan. A number of Sea Bees are due to be home shortly and we hope in time for the Navy Ball so we can recognize their service to our country.
The prescribed uniform is Service Dress Blues, civilian coat and tie for those with no uniforms. Service Dress Blues with miniature medals and bow tie for Officers and Chiefs is optional. A number of you will be in Mess Dress. The bottom line is we, and thousands of sailors before us, have served to make our country what it is today. Be proud of the uniform you wear, and the tradition behind it.
You have a choice between marinated pork chops or chicken wellington. A salad, vegetable, dinner roll, water and coffee is included. Ticket prices are $25.00 for Officers and Chiefs and their guests, $20 for E-6 and below. Price includes gratuity and taxes.
