POST MEETING July 6, 2010

1930 HOURS Opening ceremony by Commander Linda Whaley. Prayers by Chaplain Ziegler. Recording of the Legion State Band played the National Anthem.

Members present: 22

Program for the night was Chaplain Bill Ziegler.

Commander Whaley spoke on Post 2 attendance at 2 yellow ribbon ceremonies.

Commander read post meeting minutes. Spoke on her project for the year which will be Pockets of Peace.

Adjutant read Executive meeting minutes. Tom T gave a correction to be added.

Discussed Signature Authority for the club checking account at US Bank, and the Post 2 checking account at State Bank of Fargo.

Both checking accounts require only one signature on the check. There will be two authorized signers for each account, effective immediately.
One is to be the Post Commander, Linda Whaley and the other will be the
Finance officer, Tom Tolman.

Finance Officer gave the finance report. Wally Lueck donated money for the convention parade.

Vern gave thoughts on Charity funds getting a break with the next legislative session.
He also questioned the trust fund amount owed to the state. Discussion was made to clarify the worst case scenario for the amount owed when we sell the building.

2nd Vice Commander Reports:

Boys State- Wayne – 16 Boys attended for post 2. Vern said a total of 141 attended.

UPB- Bob Long- Proud of everyone for flying their flags.

Band – Cathy- Big band off for the summer. Little band will play in Barnesville next week.

VAVS- Dave Lee- Bingo at the VA…13 players 3 workers, Dave Rice, Mike Stenerson, & Jim Schlenker. Next bingo Thursday July 8 2010 at 7:00 PM.

Steve Parmer requested volunteers to help with serving bohemian dumplings at the street fair on July 15, 16, 17.
Baseball- Hank- halfway through the season. Still to happen is 3 tournaments.
Second week of August is the next tournament.

1st Vice Commanders report:

Next Fargo Yellow Ribbon Event will be August 28 & 29.

41 members have renewed. 2 new members.

In September we will be looking for old members that have not renewed in the last few years.

Bob J spoke on people paying their dues late.

Adjutant read correspondence. letter from boys state attendee, card of thanks for color guard service.

Past commanders meeting will be on July 14

New Business. $2.00 fine for anyone breaking the colors.

Bring in your beverage pop tops for Harvey Peterson.

Ron has Commander Vetter’s hat pin for sale for only $5.00.

Steve Parmer spoke on putting Post 2 in the news any chance we get. Needs help with getting link set up from baseball to Post 2.

Bob J spoke on the change of command ceremony July 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the reserve center.

Chris Hanson bid $45.00 on a Redhawk Baseball Jersey. Thanks Chris.

Helmet passed. $32.24 collected.
