Minutes

• Meeting called to order by Mitch Campbell, Vice President at 1900 Hours with twelve (12) members present
• Announcements
o Wayne Wermager, President is on vacation out of town this week
o Welcome back to member Jan Jorgenson
• Pledge of Allegiance recited
• Moment of Silence for POW and MIA comrades
• Treasurer report read and approved
• Secretary report read and approved
• Membership report read and approved
o Russ mentioned new members and past members are being added.
o Russ handed out packets containing VVA and AVVA membership applications. Members are asked to return completed application forms to him to better expedite membership processing.
• Public Affairs Officer report read and approved
o Wayne Ellefson suggested we travel to nursing homes, hospitals, etc. to honor veterans on Veterans Day
• Thank You Messages for the month
o A thank you card from Mike Doyle was passed around
• Color Guard Activities
o Russ gave an activities report and mentioned Iraq and Afghanistan veterans expressed appreciation for “Welcome Back” homecoming recognition for their living and fallen comrades.

o Larry Nicholson mentioned the Color Guard should consider being in the Detroit Lakes, MN Water Carnival parade in 2011
• State VVA Meeting and Picnic
o Ronn DuRand, Wayne Ellefson, and Russ Stabler attended the July State VVA meeting and picnic at Dead Colt Creek in Lisbon, ND.
o Three options were discussed concerning the future of the Vietnam Veterans of America
 After the last VVA member passes, the organization is extinguished
 Open membership can keep the VVA going
 Continuation can keep going through new members into ongoing groups presently active
o National President John Rowan asked Dan Stenvold, ND State President to present these options to the NDVVA for voting. Results will be forthcoming.
• Larry Nicholson asked whether the chapter is going to act/not act on the Moorhead State University Moorhead Scholarship Fund. No final decision as yet.

No other agenda items. Meeting adjourned

The next regular meeting is scheduled for 16 AUG 10 at 1900 hours at the Kelly Inn – 3800 Main Avenue – Fargo, North Dakota
