Northern Warrior Chapter #941 Meeting

* Meeting called to order 1900 Hrs
* 15 members, 3 guests present
*At start of meeting, Pres. Wermager introduced 3 guests.
Rachel Sayler and her 2 sons Eric, and Adam. Pres. Wermager had heard of,
and been informed of a benefit going on for Eric Sayler. This 14 year old
young man has a vascular condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Type IV.
His father, Tracy, had passed from this same affliction at age 40.
Rachel gave a great talk on the affliction, and explained things very well.
It was after her talk, and meeting Eric and Adam, that it was decided our
chapter members could be of help at the benefit. A sign up sheet was passed,
and members that could participate signed up.

* Quilts for Vets was brought up by PAO Ellefson. He had conversed with a
lady at the Finley function and was informed that ladies in that area have
quilts ready for distribution.
* A BIG Thank you went out to member David Brunsvold. He had an integral
part in the Hornbachers brat sales fund raising. He advised and helped out
greatly. Thank you David.
* A few more color guard activities were mentioned, 5 June Finley parade,
seeing young marine off at airport during early morning hours, a welcome
home at midnight for a returning warrior, and the turnout at the Redhawks
military appreciation night. Also events including the State Legion
Convention parade in Fargo on 25 June, and a parade in Mayville on 26 June,
and Sabin Days coming on 21, August.
* Les Bakke spoke of the Veterans picnic at Bonanzaville, and how great that
was.
* Coming in July, especially the middle of, there are happenings at Dead
Colt Creek in Lisbon, and Mahnomen Days. We hope to have a good presence at
both activities. The state VVA meeting is at Lisbon, while Mahnomen Days are
in Mahnomen.
* A motion was made to contribute $100.00 to the general scholarship fund at
Concordia College in lieu of sending flowers for member Mike Doyle, whose
wife, Pam, died suddenly. Pam was the current president at Concordia
College.
* The scholarship fund at MSUM was brought up by member Nicholson.
* Member Peterson brought a letter, and information on hosting a reunion in
May of 2012, for survivors of the USS BLOCK ISLAND CVE 21. This ship was
sunk on 5/29/1944, with a loss of 6, out of a compliment of 942. A moyion
was made, and seconded that we should persue this.
