United Patriotic Bodies
Special Meeting
02 April 2007
Meeting called to order at 1900 by Commander Terry Richardson
Those Present: Terry Richardson, Bob Hanson, Bob Jacobson, Bob Long,
John Lopez, Ed Milligan, Larry Nicholson, David Rice, Wayne Wermager,
Jim Woods, and guests D. J. Malm and Butch Anton
Commander Richardson led the Pledge of Allegiance To The Flag. Minutes
of 27 March 2007 were presented for approval. John Lopez made a motion
to approve the minutes seconded by Larry Nicholson. Motion approved by
a unanimous vote.
The agenda for the special meeting was consisted of the Veterans
Memorial Bridge signs only. Commander Richardson and D. J. Malm
brought the attendees up to date on the history of the sign project,
the current financial state, and the options under consideration.
Butch Anton gave a presentation on the Corian sign option and brought
a sample of the material. Butch discussed the Corian features relative
to size, color, lettering, workmanship, maintenance, durability, and
repair. He stated Corian is more stain resistant than granite. Butch
(an armed forces veteran) said he would fabricate the Corian sign on a
computerized milling machine and install it for $30,000 (his cost/no
profit) within 30 days of receiving the order. Butch answered
questions from the attendees, completed his presentation, and departed
the meeting.
The Commanders discussed the Corian and granite options. No sign
decision was made. Commander Richardson will discuss the Corian option
with Karen Gilbertson.
Commander Richardson asked for brief discussions or announcements on
other topics. Wayne Wermager said Bob Lechner, an American Legion
member, asked him to bring up the no street lights on the Veterans
Memorial Bridge to illuminate the American Flags issue. An effort will
be made to determine light replacement responsibility. Larry Nicholson
mentioned Vietnam Week at the Fargo Air Museum starts on 28 April
2007. He contacted the director to inquire about the events for the
week. Wayne Wermager stated he met with the director too. There isn’t
much planned for Vietnam Week to date.
No decision on dates for the next UPB bridge sign special meeting or
the next regular meeting. The Commander said he would keep in touch
via e-mail and called for a motion to adjourn the meeting. David Rice
made the motion and John Woods seconded. The motion passed by a
unanimous vote and the meeting adjourned at 1935.
Respectfully Submitted,
Wayne Wermager, V V A Chapter #941 President
