MINUTES
Commander Richardson started meeting at 1900 with the Pledge
of Allegiance.
Those present- Cdr. Lopez, Bob Hanson, Ed Milligan, Cdr. Tufts, Cdr.
Haukedahl, Cdr. Wagemann, Cdr. Jorgensen, Phil Woods, Wally
Buckingham, Cdr. Kerbaugh, Cdr. Wermager, Cdr. Rolf, Dave Rice, Bob
Long
Minutes of last meeting approved. Motion made by Buckingham, seconded
by Milligan, motion carried.
Treasurer report by Bob Long, same as last month.
Veterans Memorial Bridge Sign, still must get approval for final
design. Sign designer Karen Gilbertson says the out of town bid is
$17,000 per side.
John Lopez said he would be going in front of the Moorhead City
council on 2 October when he will discuss the bridge sign. Must have
approval from Moorhead.
Wayne Wagemann brought up the Red Hawks jersey and guitar to be sold
with funds going to bridge sign. The guitar is worth about $800.00
with raffle tickets being sold at $5.00, drawing will be on 1 Jan
2007. 2nd prize $100.00, 3rd prize is $75.00
Tickets will start selling ASAP, call the Fargo VFW for tickets. Dave
Rice suggests we set up tables in our clubs to sell tickets.
Wayne Wagemann made motion for ticket project to begin, John Lopez
seconded, motion carried.
8 November at the Fargo Theater 1730
Movie brought to us by the Fargo VFW, with 800 tickets being given
out.
There will be 200 tickets given out by the radio station Froggy 99.9
The VFW color guard will be outside the front door of the theater
letting folks in.
80 seats available without tickets.

Patriotic Riders ceremony went well at the Fargo Air Museum on 21
August 2006.
Commander Richardson suggests we get more color guards out on tarmac
when soldier’s body is flown in at airport. Usually ends up we are out
there too long waiting-poor timing.
New business: Military Appreciation Ball coming up.
11 November is Veterans Day, WF VFW will have a program inside, noon
service. Every vet who signs in- the club will donate $5.00 to the VA
for programs. The club will have bingo, food and patriotic songs.
MHD. VFW will cook “mulligan stew”, FGO AMVETS serving “sos”.
Fargo Parade—line up at 1030 at the Fargo American Legion, with parade
beginning at 1100 hours.
Ceremony will be at the Civic. The VVA will have a color guard in
parade.
Cdr. Keith Kerbaugh of the American Legion, Post 2 “Gilbert C.
Grafton” will be the keynote speaker. Cdr. Jim Haukedahl of the
Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 1, “Francis J. Beaton” is to be
the MC. The VA chaplain and the Mayor of Fargo will also be invited.
30 September at Rheault Farm is the Stand Down for Homeless veterans
with a Pow Wow included. Starts at 0900.
Time and place- Fargo Legion, 30 October- 1900 hours.
Motion or adjourn- Woods at 1934, seconded by Milligan.
